Wildlife ecology and land management
Our goal is to understand how wildlife interact with the biotic and abiotic environment, and implement this knowledge into effective wildlife management strategies. In particular, we are focused on two main areas:
1) Understanding wildlife responses to disturbance and management practices
2) Evaluating the effects of wildlife ecology and behavior on ecosystem processes and management outcomes
An ecosystem approach to land management
Through our extension work, we aim to promote wildlife habitat management and restoration. We offer several resources as part of this effort: Check out the Fire University podcast to learn more about the ecology of fire and fire management. ConservationCam is a camera trapping program for private landowners. We’ve also recently launched an initiative to reduce crop damage caused by wildlife. If you're interested, more details will be available soon.
